Things to do at Lake Bohinj

Lake Bohinj is Slovenia's largest permanent natural lake, sitting entirely inside Triglav National Park about an hour's drive from Ljubljana.

It is often lumped together with Lake Bled, 26 km away, but there is no island, no clifftop castle and no pletna boat queue here — the appeal is a quieter, larger stretch of water ringed by mountains, with the Savica waterfall trail and the Vogel cable car (running year-round) nearby.

Summer water temperatures reach a swimmable 22-24 degrees Celsius, and the lakeside path runs about 12 km round trip, roughly three to four hours on foot without stops. Come the day after Bled for the contrast, not instead of it.
