Things to do in Triglav National Park
Triglav National Park is Slovenia's only national park, built around Mount Triglav itself, the 2,864-metre peak whose three-headed silhouette sits on the national flag.
Climbing it requires no permit, though the final stretch is a cable-equipped via ferrata where a certified mountain guide is strongly recommended rather than optional in practice. The park's boundary also takes in Lake Bohinj and the Pokljuka plateau, both covered on their own pages here rather than repeated in full.
Reaching the park from Ljubljana takes roughly an hour by car; the high routes close under snow from late autumn to late spring, so a summer or early-autumn window matters more than it does lower down.
