Things to do in Izola

Izola sits on the coast between Piran and Koper, and unlike both neighbours it is still a working fishing port rather than a sight in itself: trawlers unload at the pier, the fish market runs most mornings, and the old town's narrow lanes are lived-in rather than restored for visitors.

There is no Tartini-style piazza or Venetian walls here - for that, Piran is 7 km away by coastal path or a short bus ride. Koper, with its port and old core, is about 10 km in the other direction.

Izola works best as a quieter overnight base or a lunch stop on a coastal day, with seafood restaurants priced from roughly EUR 15-25 for a main, and a pebble-and-concrete waterfront for swimming from June to September.
